Starting to get back into SL

March 30, 2008

March is almost behind us, and with it passes one of the least active months for Streeter Scene. In fact, I have posted the least this month since being on dial-up, and if you consider that some of my posting was merely to inform everyone about Kyūketsuki business, there really hasn’t been much content offered at all. Recently, I’ve been feeling kinda blah about SL, and when I’m in world, I find myself asking why I’m there. For a while, I was a freebie gathering fiend, but my inventory is so insanely overflowing now that I need to put a stop to that unless it’s something that I really, really, really want. Plus, once I gather that stuff, I need to actually wear it somewhere outside my little skybox, and I really haven’t been venturing out much.

It all hasn’t been so bad, though. I’ve spent a little bit of time with Tobie. I’ve hung out with my friends Keeley and Dirk. I’ve worked on the much delayed new Kyūketsuki post (I’m going to try hard to get it posted this week). I went to the Blogger party today and then to a concert with Shadey. These things have reminded me why I have loved SL so much in the past. I think I’m (very) slowly getting back some of that enjoyment and drive to do things in world.

Anyway, I hope to revive Streeter Scene a bit in April. Maybe Dirk can debate some issue with me and I’ll bring it to the blog like I used to. Of course, I would have to see him longer than five minutes in world before he logs out . . .

OK, I think that’s it for now. And in keeping with tradition from the early days of Streeter Scene, I’m finishing the post with a pic I took today. It ranks among my favorite pics I’ve taken of my avie.

Hopefully, I’ll be back and posting again soon :)

Don’t be critical!

March 27, 2008

So, I did what all the cool kids are doing and made a player with a bunch of songs I like. Now I just need to figure out how to get it to fit in the sidebar.

Friends list seriously horked

March 9, 2008

I don’t know what SL’s problem was today, but my friends list wasn’t working very well at all. The friends online page from the website was especially useless today. I would check it, and a bunch of people who weren’t online and maybe hadn’t been online all day would show up. Each time I would refresh the page, a new group of avies would appear. Weirdness.

305 days

March 6, 2008

Tobie already posted this on her blog, but today makes 10 months for us.

Getting awfully close to that one year mark . . .

Have you seen this kitten?

February 23, 2008

I realize that I’ve been relatively inactive when it comes to Flickr and blogging these days. We have stages in our lives when some things are more important to us than others. At this point and time, Flickr and blogging do not have the draw for me that they once did. I seem to want to go out and experience SLife rather than write about it or share images of it. I would rather spend my free time in world than outside it.

I’m going to try to get back to writing Kyūketsuki on a regular basis, as I do want to continue that story. I would like to get in two posts by the middle of next week, picking up a weekly schedule again starting next weekend. That may be somewhat ambitious, but I’m going to try.

As for Streeter Scene . . . well, it’s not going anywhere, but updates will not likely come with any regularity. The days of wanting to post daily or every other day have passed.

Of course, all this may change in a week. A woman’s prerogative to change her mind, right? ;)

Don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like mine?

February 14, 2008

Simply beautiful

Tonight, I get to share my Valentine’s Day with one of SL’s most wonderful residents. It’s hard to believe I’ve been able to call her my girlfriend for over nine months now. The happiness she brings me . . . I don’t know how to explain it. Though we’ve had a few rough times, I don’t think I could have found a better match.

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone <3

New(bie) perspective

February 10, 2008

Yann in all his newbie glory

This is Yann. If you can’t tell, he’s a newbie.

You may have read about my and Tobie’s first encounter with Yann in her description of this pic. He wandered onto our land a couple of weeks ago, strolled around Daffodil Island a bit, then came back and befriended us. Recently, I’ve talked quite a bit with Yann, meeting up with him a couple of times to hang out.

Last night, I went to the Lounge of Dreams to dance and have some fun. It’s the club that Rosie and Brandy frequent, and while Rosie has been absent because of RL, I knew Brandy would be there and I’ve have someone to bug :) While there, I got a tp request from Yann. I IMed him back and began talking with him. He seemed down, so I sent him a tp.

While at the club, Yann ended up on the stage, which scared me a bit. I tried to tell him through IM that he needed to get down, but it seemed like he wasn’t paying attention. I became a little worried he was going to be ejected or banned. Fortunately, he finally stepped off the stage . . . and moved me back several feet as he ran into me.

I spent the rest of my time at the Lounge of Dreams dancing with Yann and occasionally IMing Brandy. I sent Yann IMs, but he was entirely non-responsive, even when I told him I was getting ready to leave. Thinking that he was probably only paying attention to chat and not IMs, I sent him a tp after I went back home, and he soon arrived. Then I got an idea. I would take him to get a good, free skin and help him update his appearance. Before, he had been very resistent to changing anything, but after he almost got into trouble at the club (they had been having some griefers there recently, and some people were freaking out when they saw him get up on the stage), I thought it was worth another attempt. I wanted him to realize that people *would* react to him differently in SL because of his appearance.

I tped Yann to the SL Free*Style store in La Reina, and I got him to purchase the freebie male skin. After a lot of effort, I finally got him to put it on.

Even after putting on the new skin, Yann continued to talk about how he was satisfied with the way he had looked. I told him that there would be people who would not treat him as nicely because he looked like a newbie. His response was that I hadn’t. That made me think. What was I basing my belief about appearance on? Do people actually treat newbies poorly, or am I so wrapped up in my avie’s appearance that I made that assumption? Maybe Yann saw SL with fresh eyes and realized some things that I didn’t.

Then Yann accused me of being a guy.

Damn newbies.

Whole Lotta Love for Rosie

February 9, 2008

If you know Rosie Barthlemess at all, you probably love her. It’s time to send that love her way. She’s asking for prayers and positive energy. Her mother is not well, and Rosie is taking care of her at the moment.

Even if you’re not into prayer or spirituality, try to keep Rosie and her mother in your thoughts. I’m really looking forward to seeing Rosie post soon that her mom is OK.

Check out her call for prayers on her blog.

Rough week

February 8, 2008

This had been one of the hardest (if not the hardest) weeks for me in SL. Things are definitely looking up now, though. :)

I’m not going to blog about particulars. I’ll be back to post about . . . whatever the hell it is I normally post about, soon.

Um, did I say Saturday, February 9, 2008?

January 29, 2008

What I meant to say was date TBA (to be announced).

There’s no way we can plan the ceremony we want in such a short amount of time, so we’re delaying it. Instead, we’re thinking of just holding a party that weekend. You know, to celebrate life and stuff or whatever :)

So . . . we’ll send out invitations for that soon, with the other invitations to follow sometime in the near future.
