Taking on another new project

December 18, 2007

Partially because I’ve been creating shapes for the new blog, and partially because I’m afraid I won’t get anyone to sponsor the new blog, I’m thinking of opening a shape store in SL. So far, I have eight shapes that I think are ready to be put up for sale (I’ll need to double-check them to see if they need any tweaking), and I hope to at least have four more by the time I set up shop . . . whenever and wherever I decide to do so.

Anyway, here’s one of the shapes I came up with. Obviously not going for realism with this one :)

First attempt at sponsorship

December 16, 2007

I sent out my first notecard tonight requesting sponsorship from a designer for Kyūketsuki. I’m *really* hoping the designer decides to help, but given that I contacted someone who already has a large, established business, I may not get a response.

I did find another designer tonight whose stuff is really good, so I may contact her. I’m going to wait a day or so to see if the first designer responds, though.

Shaping up Kyūketsuki

December 15, 2007

The protagonist, before transformation

I’ve been working on the shapes for Kyūketsuki, and I think I’m close to finalizing two of them. One of them is the protagonist, shown above. The other is the vampire matron (check out my Flickr stream to see her).

I’m considering contacting designers in world to see if any of them would be interested in sponsoring the blog. That way, I can keep the outfits, etc., varied without going broke :) Plus, it would be an opportunity for the designers to get more advertising.

If you know any designers who might be interested or are a designer yourself, feel free to contact me about this.

Strange girls

December 15, 2007

Questions, questions . . .

Tobie and I went to the Carnival of Doom last night. We saw this sign. I had to get a pic.

I could build a lengthy blog post around this, but I’ll just let the image speak for itself. :)

Blog Stats

December 14, 2007

When I switched to WordPress from Blogger, I noticed that in the new blog’s dashboard there was an option called “blog stats.” Here, I could find info on how many views my blog was receiving, from where people were being referrred, which posts were being viewed, etc. At first, I wanted to avoid looking at the stats, since I was afraid that I would become too concerned about how many people were looking at my blog or what they were looking at. The temptation proved too great, though, and it seems like I’m checking these blog stats daily.

In the blog stats, search engine terms used to access the blog are shown. I think it’s interesting to see what kinds of searches my blog is included in. In case anyone else is curious, here are the search terms used to find Streeter Scene from today and yesterday:

Today

“my gigantic feet” 1
streeterscene 1
brown skin 1
sexy non nude 1
alexx-markova 1
“number twelve looks just like you” 1
victorianna castle 1
sexy pirate 1
love all the paine away 1
sexy waist 1

Yesterday

nude sexy girls 2
streeter scene 2
motorcycle club 1
motor cycle girls 1
the most romantic places in second life 1
SL+sex 1
neko case breasts 1

It’s great to see that some people were actually looking for this blog (the “streeterscene” and “streeter scene” searches), but “my gigantic feet”? Neko case breasts?

The search I love most is “nude sexy girls.” Someone found this site not once, but twice using those terms. I can’t recall actually ever blogging about nude sexy girls, and I have no idea—with all the sex sites on the internet—how this blog would show up high enough in the results for someone to find me this way. Either I’ve made some posts I don’t remember, or a couple of people have spent a long, long time searching for porn sites :)

Random encounters

December 12, 2007

Well, I’ve been back with broadband for about a week now, and so far, I’ve had very little idle time in world. I’ve managed to talk a lot with friends (which I missed *so* much) and meet a few new people.

Last night, I met up with Adia so that she could show me her new store. I always think it’s really cool when someone takes that step and says, “Yeah, my stuff is good enough to sell!” :) It’s something that I have yet to do (and may never do), and I admire those willing to put themselves out there like that.

Me and Adia. In case you didn’t know, I’m the tiny one on the left ;)

Just a little while ago, I was hanging out with my friend Dirk in Imogen (because they shut down the sim where my home is for maintenance). While we were talking, I noticed Saeya Nyanda standing several meters behind Dirk. Though I should have known better, I pointed out Saeya to Dirk and told him that she was a highly regarded designer in SL. Almost immediately, he decides to go and talk to her (he did the same thing with Ameshin Yossarian one night after I pointed her out to him). After a very brief exchange, in which it appears that Dirk is trying to pick her up (maybe he was), Saeya tps out on him. That was good for a laugh :)

A hastily snapped pic of Dirk and Saeya

So, a really eventful week so far, and I still have *so* many of you to meet :)

Tagged again

December 11, 2007

OK, it seems there’s a new meme in town, and this time, I think I’m getting in on it early enough to tag other people :)

Here are the rules:

(1) Each player starts with answering the questions about themselves.
(2) People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (answering same questions) and post these rules.
(3) At the end of your blog, you need to choose five people to get tagged and list their names.
(4) Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. Are you and early shopper or a late shopper?

I’m a late shopper, mainly because I’m always so worried that I will buy the wrong gift, and it takes me a long time before I will commit to actually buying something. It’s never that I haven’t been thinking about the person I’m buying for and then try to find something at the last minute—I just keep thinking of things and fretting over what is the *right* gift.

2. What is your favorite cartoon (current or past)?

Off the top of my head, I’ll say Jem. She was truly outrageous. Jem was truly, truly outrageous :)

3. On a scale of 1-10, how competent are you on home repair projects?

Is it just me, or is this a strange question? Anyway, I’ll say a 3, though I can’t recall a time that I’ve actually tried to repair something at home.

4. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Staring at the tree on Christmas Eve and thinking of Christmases past. I can’t remember a single bad Christmas I had as a child, and it always puts me in a good mood to remember what the holiday once meant to me :)

5. Describe your favorite kiss? Do you give it or receive it?

My favorite kiss was one that had an almond in it. I think a friend gave it to me. We were talking chocolate kisses, aren’t we? :P

OK, I’m not going to double-check to see if the people I choose are tagged or not, because I need to get some sleep. So, I tag Tobie (naturally), Phoenix, Wolf, Brandy, and Shadey, since I don’t think any of those people will kill me for tagging them. Anyway, they *should* be blaming Alexx Markova, because if he didn’t tag me, then I wouldn’t have to tag all of you. That’s sound reasoning, right? ;)

More on Kyūketsuki

December 11, 2007

I have the first three installments of Kyūketsuki outlined (in my head), and I think I have an idea of what I’ll be needing for the first few posts. If you’re interested in any of these parts, let me know either through the comments, through e-mail, through Flickr mail, through an IM in world, or any other means of communication you can come up with :)

Just a bit of background info: The story will occur in the present day, though there will be flashbacks to past events. The lead character is a woman of mixed descent (Japanese and Caucasian) who was placed in an internment camp during WWII. While there, she met another Japanese-American and fell in love. Later, after they were released, the two begin to form a life together, but the male is attacked one night by a vampire and becomes one himself. After the two discover what has happened, she allows him to transform her into a vampire as well so that they may live together eternally. Unfortunately, soon after she is changed, her love disappears. After a long period of waiting for him to return, she vows to once again find him and devotes herself to that one task. Fast-forward to the present. Having never found her love, she settled with a vampire clan which at one time she believed might be able to lead her to him. Her role in the clan became that of assassin, and she is sent out to kill any vampire hunters of which the clan learns. The first installment will begin with her stalking one of these hunters. As she defeats the hunter and watches him dying, she discovers a recent memo written by none other than her love in the hunter’s possession. From here, her search renews, and she forsakes her clan in order to be reunited with her one true love.

Um, sorry about how lengthy that was. I just wanted you all to have a good idea of where I’m taking this.

OK, now for the characters. First, I’ll list some recurring parts. Whomever is interested in these would probably have to be available maybe once a week (maybe bi-weekly) for a photo shoot.

  • Vampire matron: I have yet to name this character. Anyway, she will be the leader of a vampire clan from which the lead character separates. After the lead character deserts the clan, she seeks to have her eliminated, as a rogue vampire assassin could be a liability to the security of the clan.
  • The lead character’s love interest: OK, I really need to come up with names for these characters soon :) Anyway, he will be a Japanese-American male vampire. Early in the story, we will only see him in flashbacks, before he has been changed into a vampire.
  • Vampire clan members: I haven’t developed ideas for individual vampires yet beyond the matron, but there will be several. There will likely be at least one other major vampire assassin whose job it is to hunt down and kill the lead character
  • Vampire hunters: What would a vampire story be without those good-doers who seek out to exterminate them? The lead character will likely have several encounters with vampire hunters, as she sees them as holding the key to finding her love.

Non-recurring characters:

  • Background characters: Just characters to fill in and help provide the atmosphere.
  • Miscellaneous vampires: Some may be vampires whose lifespan in the story is very brief. Others may be just to fill in vampire crowds.
  • Vampire hunters: Yep, listing them again, because some won’t live beyond one post (e.g., the vampire hunter in the first installment).
  • Various monsters/demons/etc: These are all yet to be determined.

OK, that’s it off the top of my head. Seems kinda daunting, now that I have it written down. Anyway, if you are interested in participating, or if you’d just like more information before you make a decision, let me know. Also remember that this is SL, and you can play more than one character if you like, or you can play a character of the opposite sex. I’ll likely be filling in as other characters whenever the main character doesn’t have to be in a scene.I’ll probably provide shapes, items, etc., for some of the characters, but you’re also welcome to exercise your own creativity. I know that some people out there already have everything they’d need to fill one of these roles.

OK, that’s it. I’m hoping to get the first installment together in the next week or so, so please get ahold of me soon if this looks like something you’d enjoy!

Clockwork kittens

December 11, 2007

Dancing for the first time in months (note Myg on the left side of the pic)

Last night, Tobie and I went to Clockwork to listen to Alex’s (DJ keTchUp’s?) set. I had the chance to see some people I haven’t seen in a very long time, and I saw some people whose names I knew but had never met in world. Unfortunately, I got a little intimidated by their talking about music (I am ignorant when it comes to most music and have nothing intelligent to offer), so I was mostly quiet while there.

Anyway, I fun dancing with my kitten for the first time in ages. And next time I’m around the cool kids, hopefully I’ll have a little more to say :)

Updated links

December 10, 2007

Apparently, I’m going blog crazy today! This should be the last one . . . emphasis on the “should” :)

If you look at my links, you may notice a few changes. Aside from all the Rezzed.net stuff, I have added a few links and taken a couple away.

One of my very best friends has started a new blog called A.K.A….Tripping through SL one stiletto at a time... If you think the title is a mouthful, just wait until you read her stream-of-consciousness, can’t-stop-for-a-breath style of writing! :) Seriously, though, she’s an awesome, awesome lady, and I’m so glad she’s trying out the world of blogging!

Although I added it a while back, it’s worth pointing out that Ryker Beck’s blog is now on my blogroll. Many of you will recognize her name from Flickr, where she frequently displays her talent. Check it out :)

I’ve also added AMBUSH to my list of Fave SL designers. AMBUSH is owned by Faye Gelfand, whom some of you may know from CoLA. I bought my first outfit from AMBUSH tonight, and it’s really cute (might add pics later)! Plus, the blog just looks really nice. I wish I knew how to customize mine like she has . . .

As for the links I’ve taken away, well, both were blogs by Tiana Merriman, who doesn’t appear to be in SL anymore (at least, she didn’t come up when I just did an in-world search). I don’t know what prompted her to delete her blogs and (apparently) her SL account, and I guess it really isn’t any of my business. Just know that if you stop by, Tiana, I hope you’re doing well.
